A potent yet smooth cigar with a rich earthiness, touches of cocoa, spice, and an overall meatiness. Its rustic Mexican San Andres maduro wrapper cloaks a Nicaraguan binder and filler. Handmade in Nicaragua at AJ Fernandez’s San Lotano factory. The El Pulpo by Artesano del Tobacco Octo Ocho Culebra is made of three long panatela cigars (7″*38) that are twisted together and resemble three entwined snakes. To protect its unique configuration, the cigars are nested in a wooden coffin. Be sure to pull the cigars apart prior to smoking. “Culebra” is Spanish for snake, and “El Pulpo” is Spanish for “the octopus”

Released in early 2023, Artesano del Tobacco’s El Pulpo (Spanish for “octopus”) was an instant success. And it’s no surprise. The brand’s first launch, Viva La Vida, has earned numerous 90+ ratings plus the #16 spot on Cigar Aficionado’s Top 25 of 2020. It also doesn’t hurt that both are made by the legendary AJ Fernandez.
El Pulpo delivers a ton of flavor and that’s even more evident in their Culebra. The blend is the same: a Mexican San Andrés wrapper overtop tobaccos from AJ’s farms in Nicaragua. Unlike the other sizes in the line, the Culebra is round and not box-pressed. The narrower ring gauge allows the cigar to burn a bit hotter and gives the blend a stronger more robust flavor. A great addition to an already delicious brand!
